New for August: Obscured Cityscapes, Andy Reid

Image

The Gallery would like to introduce you to our new artist Andy Reid.

Andy’s work holds a strong figurative element, which through his painting technique may be reduced to virtual abstraction, the technique is a variant of a ‘wet on wet’ style of painting where there is no clear evidence of Brush mark, more akin to an inkjet print or photograph.

In Andy’s city paintings we are confronted by a reduction of the linear. The human beings that inhabit these cities are now fused almost seamlessly, they are as much a part of the city as the building or lighting.
All the city elements we have become accustomed to are moulded together and accentuated with light, sound and place all being blurred into one.
